Security light
Damn light keeps coming on after I'm driving. The light goes off after I start the car but wait 5-10 minutes and it's backs. Anybody have any ideas what could cause this?

Re: Security light
I had this happen for almost a year, change the damn ignition switch and you won't be annoyed anymore. It didn't let me start my car somtimes and finally didn't start anymore.

Well i took the plunge and ripped the inside of the car apart following the instructions i got off the net. The whole process took me about 2.5hrs and a dozen cuts on my hands. I clean the contacts with a fine file and re assemble everything. Works like a charm now. The cylinder and switch cost about $600 at the dealer with 2 hours labour. I saved myself atleast $800-900.
I want to give a big thanx to LittleHoov The best instructions I have come across in years. Thank You |

I do hope that fixed things for you though, BUT I also think that the components of the ignition switch that are part of the security system are located inside it, so if you just cleaned the outside, it may not solve the problem. Although, if the outside was dirty, the components inside may not have been sending the proper voltages, etc, to the BCM...but at any rate, glad you saved yourself some cash. Even just buying a new ignition switch is way cheaper than that. RockAuto has them for as cheap as 76.79 before shipping.
