I recently purchased a 99 Kia Sportage, 7 months ago to be exact, well the timeing belt snapped due to a pully freezing and surprise surprise the warranty does not cover that specific pully! not only did the belt snapped but it caused the head to warp so I need work on the head now too, warranty wont cover that either. Dealership says all they can do is fix it at their "employee" price, what am I supposed to do, I still owe 5 grand on it and fixing it will cost close to 2 grand. Any suggestions? or am I just screwed? !

THe reply you had from 15th hippy in the other (APV) forum is correct. NOW pulley freezing ??? which pulley? do you mean idler or tensioner pulley? IN that case it is no big deal......THis engine is non interference hence should have no bent valves because of a failed belt. What are the indications that you have a warped head? Did the engine lack lubrication or cooling ?
Belt replacement for this engine as well as most others is recommended at 70,000 miles...and SPortage forums are full of those who ignored this and ended up stranded in the middle of nowhere...but in most if not all cases, towing car back home and installing a new belt..and by the way, new idler, tensioner and water pump, (full kits available on e-bay) procures a car ready to take the road again.
IF the belt had been changed but not the other components, that was looking for trouble.

So....come back with some more details ...

I am not sure what pulley it was the mechanic i believe said ether pulley or something along those lines? he also said that when the timeing belt snapped it destroyed some of the valves and pistons, but do you think this is the cause of the head being warped? it all seems fishy to me as if there was head dammage when I bought it maybe, what are some reasons why the head would be damaged? I'm wondering if the warranty would cover the head dammage if it wasn't caused by the belt. thanks for the input by the way, i had the timeing belt and valves replaced, but it does still seem to have damage to the head.

He most probably said "idler" pulley (the other is the "bender" pulley, also known as tensioner. )
Warped head or bended valves are not linked to this event (THis is the Double Over Head Cam engine, a non-intererence engine; the Single Overhead cam engine used in previous years would have bent valves).
Warped head are normally caused by overheating (loss of coolant). Overheating can also dislodge valve guides, that is, steel inserts in the aluminum head ).
What is the condition of the car now? DO you have it ? Does it function normally? Why do you say it still seems to have damage to the head?

The tensioner pulley, I don't have the vehicle it's still sitting in the AAA lot where I had it towed, the mechanic tells me that when the timeing belt and the valves where replaced there was still a misfire in the engine and that it was caused by some head damaged. When I spoke to him about why the head was damaged without it overheating he said that when the valves where bent the engine was rubbing so it caused the head to warp? He keeps quoting it as though it "might" be what he says, so if there's a possibility that it was caused by something else than I want the warranty to pay for the damage. I guess without myself looking at it and knowing what to look for I have to take the guys word for it, but I can't help but feel that I'm getting worked over here.

HAving the car in the backyard of the one who want to impose his views is not a confortable position. I wish it were in your own backyard.
Can the the engine be started and run in anyway now?
Misfire is a separate issue that must be solved separately.
