95 Cherokee AT problem

just bought 95 cherokee... it was leaking tranny fluid out the coolant line...fixed that but it will not go into 'R'...when i shift out of 'P' it goes right into 'D'...i pulled the valve body out and the valves where stuck...i was wondering if anyone else had had this problem and if so how they fixed...i don't want to buy a new valve body when it may need a new trans

thank

Re: 95 Cherokee AT problem

A salvage yard trans might be the way to go.

You should be able to rebuild the valve body unless it is rusted up.

See if this will help:
