Sauber Mercedes C9 Kouros, Revell 1/24

Hi

After the Porsche 962 I also built the 2nd Revell Group C Hasegawa ReRelease. The Porsche went fast and easy, the Sauber was ... diffcult. You have to cut a front part (where the number is) from a supplied clear plastic sheet yourself - but that is way to thin, so after futile attempts with putty I replaced it with a pice cut out of 0.3 plastic sheet. Kit, pictures and instructions neglect the intake on top of that part the real car had (which I noticed AFTER I had put the decals on). The instructions also imply, you should glue the wing before the body... which I would think to be near to impossible.

Airbrushed with Revell Aquacolor, except for the rims: gold with a Tamiya paintmarker, and silver from vallejo. Scratched some belts, rest is OOB.

Edit: Ops, uploaded wrong pictures, now corrected

Nice work, especially the tires. Is the yellow on the tires kit supplied decals?

Looks great

The body was painted with the Revel acrylics?

The Kouros decals are in the Hasse kit?

Re: Sauber Mercedes C9 Kouros, Revell 1/24

The yellow stripes are decals, coming with the kit.
This kit was released in december from Revell- it is the same as the old Hasegawa Kits, but with new Cartograf Decals. Included are Kouros versions for LeMans and World Championship 87 as well as the Nurburgring Michelin sponsored Version.
Yes, the body was airbrushed using the Revell water based acrylics (also the clear coat).

Re: Sauber Mercedes C9 Kouros, Revell 1/24

Looks clean and great

I really like those "old" Group C cars.

I wonder how you got the Revell aqua color clear to look this good.
I used this clear recently on one of my kits but it was a complete disaster.

With what did you thin the clear and what was the mixing ratio ?

Hope to see more of you soon.

Re: Sauber Mercedes C9 Kouros, Revell 1/24

I only have an airbrush for 3 weeks now, so I don't know if I did something special I thinned with water. I used an old car body for testing, gave more water/more clear until it looked right and didn't clog the airbrush. At the end it was something between 25% and 33% water. First one mist coat, then 30 minutes later one wet coat.
