should be drivers side frame rail about mid point of vehicle.must get under vehicle, under drive shaft.filter inside of frame rail.....if you are going to do this have plugs ready as lots of fuel will come out, unless your fuel pump check valve is bad..........

Re: fuel filter

I think (for 2004?) they started putting the fuel filter in the gas tank. It isn't serviceable. On my 2003 it is on the frame rail like J Cat said.

Re: fuel filter

for 04 it could be anybodys guess as i forgot for sure, bu in 05 only the z-motor(some 5.3's 10th digit in VIN is Z) had an external filter. all others are in tank best of knowledge. but to be sure, on gas engines it will be on the frame rail just behind the EBCM(ABS brake modulator/brain) if external filter.
