Yep! Another Carrera GT
Building this one for an upcoming article in Model Cars Magazine...... and loads of inspiration from Rallyraiders Black one....
I will be using the Scale motorsports Carbon fiber Template set along with the photo etch set from Matt Wells.... ![]() Body has been painted. I used a PPG metallic blue basecoat followed by 2 coats of Dupont Chroma clear urethane. Body has also been polished. ![]() The engine in the kit is pretty straight forward, no serious detailing here since most will be hidden by the CF frame anyways. I used Tamiya FLat aluminum shot through the airbrush followed by some detail being picked out by Black wash from long enterprises. I toned down the exhaust coating it in semi flat clear and giving it the heated look with tamiya clear colors and their fantastic weathering pastels. ![]() Thanks for looking more to come real soon...... Re: Yep! Another Carrera GT
That engine looks great, i just hate that the rear structure of the cerrara covers so much of the engine though.

Re: Yep! Another Carrera GT
Thanks guys.... Lots of progress this weekend....
Belly pan, interior tub, and all smaller components were covered in SMS CF from the template set and covered in dupont clear...... ![]() Brakes were completed using SMS Photoetch faces airbrushed metallic grey. Later I will add a black wash to give them a carbon look. ![]() Front suspension is complete. Various parts off SMS PE sheet were used.. ![]() Engine is mounted to the cage awaiting other details...... ![]() I noticed Tamiya does not provide the heim joint arms that piggyback the shocks on the real car. SMS gives you details to make these. I used RB motion stainless rod, SMS rod ends in the PE kit and pro tech nuts to make these... ![]() Here is the engine bay complete with the added rods to the shocks. ![]() ![]() And a test fit of the body.......interior is next!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Yep! Another Carrera GT
Beautiful carbon decal work. It's a shame most of it is hidden by the body,it looks flawless!! I had a look on the SMS website at the templated decals you mention. Can you briefly explain how they work? Are they pre-printed and you have to cut them out yourself? Or are they pre-printed and pre-cut?
