New 95 Maxima owner
Hello all,
I just bought myself a 95 Nissan Maxima for 4500 to replace the disaster that was my 98 Dodge Intrepid ES. I am starting to love this car, its quick and still stylish and seems to be very dependable. It is currently at 90k miles, and was a lease for 7 years, so I assume it was taken good care of, there are lots of records for that. I just have a few questions. First, what are some of your recommended maintanences that I should preform on this car? It runs very smooth but I do want to change the oil and what not asap, i believe it had sat for a little while. Also, I was interested if this car has a timing belt or chain, I can't seem to get a clear answer online, 95 was a split year? Is there a way I can check physically? Anyway, I just want this car to last me as long as possible and to preform at peak. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Cary |

Re: New 95 Maxima owner
Check this link below and peek at all pages... your 4th gen maxima is "80% like" the 3rd gen [89-94]. Biggest differences are 24V/VariableTimingCam, Chain, Coilpacks, OBD-II protocol computer.

Re: New 95 Maxima owner
my last car was a 95 maxima, it definitely uses a timing chain. they're relatively solid cars without many major issues. mine was still running strong at 170,000 miles when i upgraded just do regular routine maintenance and you should be all set. if you're worried about the having sat for a bit you may want to have the oil, transmission fluid and coolant changed, along with the spark plugs, pcv valve, and air filter.
