Fuel Pump vent line??

I am in the process of changing out the fuel pump in my 01 tahoe. The pump had the fuel and return line, but no vent line.. the Haynes manual shows a vent line. I'm stumped because there's a pipe for it on the pump, but no line. I'm the 2nd owner, and almost positive no one has worked on this. And I've had a code on and off for the past year for the EVAP system.
It must be related, right?? Thanks for any help you guys can offer.
