Re: does anyone know how the trans cooling lines come loose '02 silverado 2500hd?
the little black cap pops off(remains on the line but can be slid back), to reveal the oh shit clips as they are called sometimes. just be sure to put the little covers back when done.

Color/material aside, he is correct.
The best way to remove the clips is with a 90 degree pick and needle nose pliers. Get the pick under one side of the clip, and pull just far enough to get the pliers on the middle raised part. Use the pick to release the other side of the clip and pull off. If you don't release both sides, the pliers have a tendancy to slip off. Best case scenario, it snaps back on. Worst, it falls and you don't hear it hit the ground. With the clip gone, the line should just pull out.

Fortunately, when I pulled mine off, I had been told by a tech from the Chevy house to keep a good grasp on that little clip or it would be gone forever!!!

o.k. got rad out and drivers side tank on and back in . them clips are what i expected from a g.m. [fun to work with ] the tank had a trhee inch split at the top oil cooling line . only thing good out of this was the tank was replacable without replacing the whole rad. thanks for the clips 101

Re: does anyone know how the trans cooling lines come loose '02 silverado 2500hd?
hey the clips were not that bad .i used a stiff piece of wire beat the end flat and put a bend on it and hooked one end and popped it out and grabbed it with needle nose. all i can say for the rad is damn what a rad and i can see why they want so much for them.but again thanks for the tips and replies
