2002 manual won't accept gas
we took our 2002 to the gas station this morning on empty we filled it about 2/10ths of the way and couldnt get anything else in it the pump kept shutting off as if the tank was full. The car has been in the garage the past few days and we just changed out a dead battery. We used the same gas station we always use so I'm sure it's not that. Also the car now reeks of gas! an we did a fuel filter chang a month or so ago.

was it really cold out that day? extreme cold weather will mess with that sensor on the gas pumps....

I has been really cold but the car has been garage kept for the past few days so that shouldn't be the issue

There is a vent line that lets out the air when you fill the tank with fuel. If it is plugged, etc, you can have this problem. I don't know how to explain to you how to check it though.

Often its just the pump. I've had to change pumps before because it randomly stops. Both on my Pt cruiser and my cavalier...
