Windshield wipers won't stop

I've posted on this issue before and have seen other discussions on it before but can't find any definitive answer on the fix. Basically the problem is that my windshield wipers will always turn on but often will not shut off. Eventually they stop. Sometimes in the proper place, sometimes in the middle of the wipe cycle. When this 'issue' is happening, the washer also will not work. The problem appears to be somewhat temperature related in that it often occurs in the winter but rarely occurs in the summer. I replaced my ignition harness a while back and thought that took care of the wiper problem but apparently not. I've checked the wiper circuit board several times (I fixed the ground problem several years ago) and can't find any bad joints, traces, etc. All harness connections (that I can find) and such have been re-seated with no improvement. Any ideas? Can I get a new wiper circuit card anywhere?

Re: Windshield wipers won't stop

A pal at work bought a new card for his S10 at the auto parts store before he said anything to me. I resoldered the grounds on old one so now he's got a spare

Re: Windshield wipers won't stop

I bought a new card at NAPA today for about $22. So far it works fine - but it is one of those intermittent problems so we shall see. Warm weather coming into St. Louis so it may be a while before some true cold tests this fix out. I'll repost in a month or so and let folks know if it works. For about $20, it's one cheap and easy fix - if it works. I reflowed all the joints I could get to on the old card with no luck - I didn't want to bother stripping the red-coat to get to all the joints because it simply isn't worth it for $20. I had done the grounds long ago but this was a different symptom than the grounds - with the grounds out, the wipers wouldn't START working ; with this new problem, the wipers wouldn't STOP working!!! Geeze, how much more could go wrong with these freakin' wipers! (Maybe I shouldn't ask - it IS a Bravada after all!! LoL)

Re: Windshield wipers won't stop

Quick follow up. New card is the answer I'm happy to say. Works hot/cold/always. For $22 I highly recommend you replace the card at first sign of a wiper problem. I spent way too much time messing with soldering/resoldering that old card. Card replacement is quick, simple, cheap and a complete fix!
