reading diagnostic codes

I'm attempting to read the daignostic codes on my 92 T/C. The manual I have is vague in describing the pin numbers on the diag connecter. The plug has two rows of pins, the top row has two pins and the bottom has 4 pins. Does anyone know how they are numbered? I need to identify pin 2 and pin 4. The connector is something like this:
XX
XXXX
If anyone has any suggestions to simplify the process, please let me know.
Thanks to all,

Re: reading diagnostic codes

The diagram is very clear, thanks. The book says to read the codes first without the negine running and then with the engine running. I will try again this weekend and let you know the results.

Re: reading diagnostic codes

Because the check engine light was on, I was reading the codes. I got as far as the key on engine off. I turned the key off and the Check Engine Light went off. I drove the car about a mile and parked it, it hasn't came on again.
