2002 alero quit running?

Hi I have a 2002 alero with a 2.2L eng. that just quit running. I was driving down the road and it turned off yes all the lights came on and I tried to crank it over and the eng. turns over but will not start... From what I've read here is that its most likely to be the crank position sensor?...my brother had the same thing happen to his car a few weeks ago and here I am with the same problem...he replaced his crank shaft sensor and it solved his problem.. he told me to give it a try and I think thats what
