New Fuel pump squeaks

I installed a new fuel pump in my 2000 GMC Serria (Master from Advance Auto) and it squeaks as the engines idles. It was a smooth installation and the truck runs great. Could this be a defected pump?

Re: New Fuel pump squeaks

I would take it back, you could see early failure. A new pump should only have a slight hum.

Re: New Fuel pump squeaks

Get your money back too,get one from the dealer or Carquest which are made by Delphi.Delphi has the best pumps for GM's and GM's fuel pumps are made by Delphi.Carquest did have Airtex for their fuel pump supplier and ditched them,a lot of returned fuel pumps and switched to Delphi for their fuel pump supplier.Carquest has Bosch for their fuel pump supplier also, stay away from the Bosch pump,All Bosch makes is junk and my father has really bad luck with anything made by Bosch.

Re: New Fuel pump squeaks

Go get yourself an OEM AC delco pump. They are designed to last 80k miles... The after market ones are usually only good for a year or 2 thus why they are so much cheaper. Sometimes its easier to spend a little $$ upfront to save stress and aggrivation.
