Rear entertainment problems
I have a 2001 ford windstar with a rear entertainment system. The VCP still works and sound comes out of the speakers but the screen is black. Nothing comes on. I played with the contrast. Nothing happens. It happened all of a sudden.

Re: Rear entertainment problems
Does it have an LCD screen?? I think it does. If it is an LCD screen than your mercury bulb went out. If every thing is correct as far as correct switch settings
than most likely thats the case..You may won't to check to make sure every things plugged in right with the screen, which will mean you may have to pull the unit down. |

Re: Rear entertainment problems
Yes it has an LCD. Everything is plugged right. Almost like no power to lcd. Is the Mercury bulb replaceable?

Re: Rear entertainment problems
Checked with a repair guy I know he is saying that your type would have a florecent type bulb and they are not serviceable. He was saying check the fuses
and make sure power is getting to the screen. Other than that it would have to be power board problem which is fixable from a tv service or the unit is dead. In other word he was saying it may cost more to fix than replace. Sorry. |

Re: Rear entertainment problems
I just had the same problem with my 2003. I have a buddy who is an amateur electrician and he fixed mine. Basically, the wiring just above the flip down monitor gets chafed from opening and closing the screen. You have to pull down the screen, remove it and reconnect the chafed wires.
