side view mirror
I need to replace both side view mirrors on a 2003 ford explorer. Drivers side side view mirror needs full replacement (has broken glass and cracked assembly). Passengers side view mirror just has a boken glass, however I may have to buy the full assembly. Does anyone know how to remove the assembly and replace? The drivers side that i can remove looks like I would have to splice the wires and just push the new assmebly in. I guess I have to break the passengers side mirror in order to get the assembly out even though all that is broken is the glass; since I see no way of just replacing the glass.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. |

Re: side view mirror
On drivers side, remove the inside door panel and remove 3 bolts and unplug wiring. On passenger side, the glass will pop out and the new one pops back in. If you can't get it, replace same as drivers side.

Re: side view mirror
Thank you. I would also like to let others know that if just the mirror is cracked, you can pop the mirror out and have a glass shop replace the mirror and pop back into place. ( if mirrors are heated, make sure they reconnect wires. I had to splice wires b/c they chose to cut my wires) If the side view mirror mount is cracked, then you have to remove door panel as described by previous post.
Thank you for the help. Saved me time and money. |
