Tamiya 1/12 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR 06'

Happy new year everyone!

I have never done a bike kit before, but I have been watching this section for a while now and got the itch. I decided that for my first bike model I would choose the new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR model.

Although Steve aka Hiroboy already did a stunning example of this model, I am going to try my hand at it anyway. Please give me any feedback good or bad and suggestions that you might have to make it better or more accurate. If this model will go well I will try my hand as a ""naked" bike with all the electrical connections, etc.

I have the grade-up set and the pe sets coming from HIROBOY.COM (Highly recommended for all your modeling needs) but until I receive them, I will be working on other items.

Now the pics:

The airbox

Gloss black with pe hose clamps from Crazy modeler.



The engine - I painted with a variety of metallizer testors paints that I like sometimes more than Alcalad - but they have to be buffed and sealed for best results.

The top head cover

Exhaust

I have springs coming, but in the meantime here are the pics. They look much better in person because the flash gives gives it an unnatural appearance





The exhaust is stained with clear orange, and blued with Tamiya weathering chalks and pastels.


And here is the subassemblies together with a dark wash over them - still some details are missing - such as the blue silicon connectors from the IC to the engine and the piping

Hi,

parts look good so far.

The colour around the weldung seams appears a little bit "compact" to me, maybe it should be fading away from the welding seams

Does anyone know if the TS-22 is the right match for this bike? The instructions keep referring to "lime green" color - not sure what the number is.

Looking good, nice work!!

I built this kit recently....I used the "new" lime color by tamiya on mine.
There is no "ts" number though. Me being in the US...this was an easier solution rather than using Zero's line.

IZsd - yours is very nice! I found some TS-22 and TS-20 only in my local hobby store. So I will use that one. Hopefully it will be ok - if not I will have an opportunity and excuse to buy another kit

Ok progress time:

The frame and most of the wiring is complete. Used Crazy Modeler PE set, Tamiya Grade up fork set and SMS CF decals. I was able to find only TS 20 paint - it doesn't appear to be a good matsh so I may be taken an artistic license with the decals.
