Red face 2004 Venture Radio

I have 2004 Venture and I screwed up my factory cd player. I put a cd into the player when there was one already in it. DUH! I finally got them out with a pair of needle nose pliers. But the operation to save the CD player failed . I want to install a new radio, store bought, but all I read tells me I'll need to go to a dealer to have the computer reset after a replacement radio is installed. I very well can remove the console and radio and install a new radio but the fear of the vehicle not working after scares me. Any help about this would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: 2004 Venture Radio

happy new year. welcome to A/F. is the new radio factory replacement or a aftermarket radio. if you replace it with a gm radio it will most likely have a theft deterent system that a dealer will have to set before it will work. if it's aftermarket it's good to go. good luck 463

Re: 2004 Venture Radio

The radio will be after market. But some people tell me that sensors lights on the dash may not work after an install. Any clues about that?
Thanks

Re: 2004 Venture Radio

I've purchased aftermarket radios from Crutchfield ( www.crutchfield.com) in the past. They have an excellent Customer Service department that can answer many of your questions concerning the installation of aftermarket radios. Give them a try with your question(s), they might be able to help you out.

Re: 2004 Venture Radio

Sorry I didn't back to you quickly as my motherboard crapped the bed. But on the after market radio. I've been warned, by some, that some of my my dash display "Lights" may not work and or other alike functions. Could this be true? As the after market radios are reasonably priced compared to Manufacturer products.
On the Cructhfield, the tech support could not give me an answer on this particular question. Maybe just the wrong person as I do have experience with many different tech support calls relating to circuit board installation for automatic doors.

I also have had a intermittent problem with the Dash "Tempature Gauge" Turn on a cold engine and dash gauge works properly. Stop and turn off engine and re-start engine and guage continues from where it last displayed. So on and so on until it reaches clockwise completely around to almost at the start. And just recently the "Speedometer", after continues driving stops in place of the higest reading.
Both, if I flip the ignition key "On" & "Off" with cause them to return to correct reading.
Strange but true.
Any ideas???? In case I miss the answer email me at [email protected] Thanks
