Re: Happy new year!: First model 08 Carrera GT
I've often wanted to put a model car into a computer-aided coordinate measurement system. Then, I'd scale the CAD and use that to make fiberglass molds to build a full-scale replica body. Maybe I could throw a DOM tube chassis underneath it. The trouble with doing this with a supercar, however, is that the final result might not be as good.
Better idea: Pick up from a bone yard an older and very common economy car, such as a 5th-gen Civic, and make fiberglass replicas of every panel. Work up a chassis to fit underneath it. Then, mount a Chevy small block, longitudinally right behind the seats, as low as possible, and slap a transmission directly behind that. It'd be the ultimate sleeper. I lack both time and money to do this, though.
