Changing Rear Brake Pads on a 2001 Montero Sport

I feel ridiculous asking this, but where are the rear disc brakes on the 2001 Sport? The brakes were squeaking and due for a change, so I went to NAPA, the guy sold me front/rear brake pads, I changed the front ones with no problem, but when I take off the rear wheels, there's only this drum-looking thing there. I see the fluid line going into the rear of the tire mounts, but no disc brake assembly, &c.

Is it underneath the drum-looking thing? How do I get that off? (seems to be a plate in the front of the drum, but tapping didn't get it off--don't want to twist it too hard lest I break something.) I have the Chilton repair manual that says there are rear brake pads that can be changed, so I'm a bit mystified--any help is appreciated!

By the way, is it me, or are the jacking points for the Montero so inconveniently located that getting to them with a floor jack and setting up jack stands puts you in a dangerous position?
