Question Pushrod question

I took the pushrodes and rocker harms out of my 96 ford engine and forgot to number them to mark where they came from. now i'm stuck because i don't want to put them back in the wrong place and mess up my engine.

Re: I messed up

Are the pushrods all the same length. All the rockerarms are the same. You just need to know if your pushrods are the same length.

Re: Pushrod question

Technically they should all go back into the orignal positions because everything is wear matched.

At this point I would just put them back on and not worry about it.

Re: Pushrod question

Couldn't you try experimenting to see which "feels" right until you match up rods with holes and then try to match rockers with rods based on wear patterns? If you needed to replace the rods you obviously are not putting in the paired rods with their holes when you put in new ones, so new ones would possibly solve your dilema with a deliberate and accepted practice.

Re: Pushrod question

they can go anywhere. pushrods do wear to there seat in the rocker arm and the lifter but it is not a big enough deal to loose sleep over. If you were in need of a push rod, and had an old engine that was the same, you could pull one out and stick it in anywhere and it would wouk just fine and re-seat itself to the lifter and rocker.
So in my opinion, put them where they land.
