99 Rodeo Lights Flickering

My 99 Rodeo lights (interior and exterior) began flickering this weekend when it is idling. When the engine is above 1500 rpm the flickering stops. Idling when the battery terminal off the flickering persists. The battery seems to be charging fine since the vehicle did not shutdown when the battery terminal was lifted while it was running. I do not have a "boom box stereo system" to mess with the alternator.

Has anyone encounter this problem before? Could it be the alternator going bad? I plan to check the ground wires in the engine and some fuses to see what I find. Looking forward to hear from you guys.

rodeo's act really weird when the alternators go bad.

if you replace it either get a bosch napa or oem isuzu.
cheap ones will die very quickly

I agree with alternator.. my mitsu did the same thing when the alternator went bad. You'll probably see the headlights do the same thing.

Re: 99 Rodeo Lights Flickering

Well what you know-I found a blown hrin fuse 10a in the engine fuse box. Once it was replaced the lights stopped flickering.

The horn hasn't worked for a while, I had the relays in the "alarm box" (front passenger side) checked and they are all good. This latest discovery may indicate there is still another problem.

Thanks for the input.

Re: 99 Rodeo Lights Flickering

Gotta love isuzu wiring. Something so simple causes weird things to happen in seemingly unrelated parts.

Its possible you could have a bad ground somewhere and something else is using the horn circuit to complete its circuit.
