Alternator bolt

Does anyone know where I can get an alternator mounting bolt for my 92 Metro? Mine is missing and someone just rigged it up with a bolt on one side. I presume it requires a thru bolt.

i replaced my alternator maybe 6 months ago and if i remember correctly [not always reliable] i was surprised by the 2 'pivot bolts'. i think one of them was different .... maybe a stud / nut combo. i don't have a good breakdown in my haynes manual so it might require a trip to the 'dealer' for a schematic and specs. then it should be off the shelf hardware ..... at a machine supply perhaps.

Redpepe is correct. The pulley side is through bolted with a nut and bolt. The back side has a welded nut on the bracket and requires a bolt. I believe its a 10mm course thread by 3/4" long.

been following your tires too. if there is a change in diameter, then the initiating torque per gear and cruising power requirements are different from 12". like drbill, i'm surprised at the different mpg overall but trust your good measurements. agree that the size of the contact patch is a serious factor for mpg.

i've given up on changing .... gonna keep replacing with cheap 12"ers. they're sooo relatively inexpensive that i'll replace them early. when they're new, i feel safe.

Ahhh, yes. I had an issue here, myself. It seems that the vibration of these engines put a lot of stress on this point. A lot of bolts seem to break or vibrate loose. This is a good point for all of you to look over good, especially before you take a long trip. Happy New Year All

Thanks guys. The hole on the inboard mount is square. My bolt is missing. Thought that it took a single thru bolt and the last owner just put a short bolt in the outboard side. The hole in the inboard mount is square so I'll just hit the hardware store for a carriage bolt.
