How To Bleed Coolant System

I'm getting ready to replace the water pump on my 99 GC 3.8L but want to know how do I bleed the system?
I checked Alldata.com and according to them there is no way to bleed the system. I does it on it's own.
Problem is when I drained the radiator air was obviously trapped in the system since the heat is cold but the engine temp gauge went 3/4 of the way up.
I pulled out one of the heater hoses and bleed it that way but is there an easier way?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: How To Bleed Coolant System

All I've ever done to mine is run it with the radiator cap off until the thermostat opens. Although I seem to remember that when I had my 89 with rear heat I had a problem getting the rear heat purged. That van had a 3.0. I haven't had a problem with my 97 3.8L though.

Re: How To Bleed Coolant System

Thanks for the tips.

I parked the car on an incline and ran the engine w/ both ft and rear heat on. Ft was fine but the rear was the problem. So I kept on squeezing the upper rad hose until it stopped bubbling in the recovery tank and viola....I have rear heat again.

Strange....why didn't the geniuses at Daimler-Chrysler just make a vent like most other cars out there. Would solve everyones problem with air trapped in the system.
