ran out of gas now car won't start

Ran out of gas in a 2000 galant. Put gas in the car, it will turn over but won't start. Any ideas?

Cool Re: ran out of gas now car won't start

check to see if your fuel pump works, with your key in start position listen for the mechanical hum coming from the gas tank. if it is not working your relay which I believe is on driver side of console under a couple of pannels(1.5x2.5) brass looking cube with a 8 prong plug. disconnect it and let it sit for 15 minuets and reconnect or possibly replace it and follow one of the next two suggestions. if it is working o.k. you may just need to let your fuel pressure build up and get the air out of the lines by turning it over forever. another way you can do it is to unhook the fuel line connected to the fuel rail(tube that connects all the injecters together on top of engine) place end in container to catch gas and turn the key to the run position and when the gas begins to flow from the line turn switch off and quickly replace line. this later method is a little quicker ,but may still take a moment to build up pressure and start. Remember gas is highly flamable,be careful.
