Re: 99 2.4 Thermostat

It's not on top!

It's on the bottom pass side hose/metal tube, under the car.

Do a search for "2.4 thermostat" you'll find many threads discussing this in detail.

Re: 99 2.4 Thermostat

I edited your post, that pic was to big.
We like to limit them to 800x600 or post the link if they are larger.

It's the main outlet and a lift helps a lot when changing these.

Good Luck

Re: 99 2.4 Thermostat

sorry about that. well i may just have to wait till i can get home. it looks easy since its on top but knowing GM they pry made it a PIA. what would be the easiest way without a lift to change the gasket in that?

Re: 99 2.4 Thermostat

Thats ok about the pic, no biggie.

The best way is to get the car up as high as possible and on a jack stand for sure! Drain down the coolant first then crawl under and loosen the 2-3 bolts.
Thier night be a bracket/brace in the way, that'll have to be removed if so.
Support the engine/trany if necessary.

And try not to bend those smaller hoses(heater hoses) around you can develope leaks if they are old and britle.

Re: 99 2.4 Thermostat

are you thinking of the thermostat? ill do that when i get home. the water outlet on top of the engine is where its leaking at. i took the pic at an angle. the green line is the top of the outlet and where its leaking from.

Re: 99 2.4 Thermostat

I thought that pic was from underneath the car.

It does appear to be leaking, either way it shouldnt be to difficult.
