where are the hobby shops in Hong Kong?

Hey guys,

I'm from HK, so I know the area pretty good...and the last time i was back, i wasn't really into models yet, but now I am. I'll be back in January, and was wondering if any one can tell me where to go for good places for our models?

I recall from the past that there's an alley in the Mong Kok area by the hospital that has alot of model shops. i will definitely check those places out. Any where else in particular that i should pay attention to?

My plan to is to get all the Evo's, from 3-9, an S15, and the initial D collection while i'm there.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I was once a HK resident as well and I know the place you were talking about. That place actually has the most models in my experience.

However, if you want to get out-of-production kits, there is a store inside Wan Chai Mall 188 on the second floor that sells long gone models.
Last time I visited there, they had the old Fujimi F40 LM kit and Tamiya Castrol Accord JGTC. (But then, last time I was there was 2005...)

Let me know if you were able to find the store and your harvest!

Re: where are the hobby shops in Hong Kong?

I usually shop at these places:

Fook Lee 福利- On Un Chow Street near Yen Chow Street, in Sham Shui Po near Golden Computer Centre

Wang Kee 宏記 - On Waterloo Road, a little bit past Dundas Street, in Yau Ma Tei/Mong Kok (Parallel to Kwong Wa Street)

Wai Le 偉利 - There are 3 Wai Le stores, the one at Yue Man Square Bus Terminal in Kwun Tong is the largest, followed by the one on Wan Chai Road near Charterhouse Hotel at Wan Chai, and the one at Kwong Wa Street is the smallest.

I'm not a big fan of UML but if you want to shop with them, their stores on Waterloo Road, Nathan Road and Hennessy Road are the ones that concentrate on scale model kits. Their other stores are more into action figures and toys.

The thing with Kwong Wa Street is that most of the shops there are airsoft guns, diecast or RC oriented. Sang Fai and Wai Le still sells model car kits, but that's about it.

PM me if you need detailed directions.
