Tranny compatibility question

Hi all,

I have a 95 Grand Prix 3.1L Auto that needs a new trans. I also have a parts car 99 Chevy Lumina car 3.1L Auto. Will this trans fit my grand prix. The engines are exactly the same and am curious about the trans.

Thanks!
Chris

Re: Tranny compatibility question

No! The transmissions are different. They may bolt up but the 99 is controlled by a computer where the 95 is not.

Re: Tranny compatibility question

Yes if the gear ratio is the same and there is a metal tag near the final drive cover to confirm that. All that needs to be changed is the final drive and sometimes the electrical.
