Honda guy vs Nissan guy

Im bored as hell at work so I started to just check other forums since this forum doesnt have a new post like every 5 minutes like it used to, but anyways, I somehow went over to the honda forum cuz I guess I wanted to see what type of mods they do first to their cars.

So I start reading the "what was ur first mod" thread and just about everyone was like "altezas" or "clear lights" or "stereo and/or speakers w/ a sub and amp" or "shift knob".

Not to say that we're all pro racers and gear heads but when a question like that is asked over here the first response I usually hear is "turbo" or "i/h/e" or "suspension".

I guess the honda guy mentality,for the most part, is more about looks rather than the actual drive and performance of the car but when ur car is fwd I guess that makes sense.

Just my 2cents while Im bored at work.

just taking a guess, because i've always been into fast cars. but i would say the difference between honda and nissan guys is the fact that most 240 people get into drifting or drag, so the first thing you do is power or suspension. they also buy there 240s after owning a few cars already (no generally a first car) but hondas are common enough to where most peoples first cars are hondas (particularly civics) and the first thing they want to do is impress people. however once you begin to see the trend of people who have own many hondas, they begin to get into tuning (atleast that seems to be the trend around here)....so thats my explaination.

Show me one person that automatically jumped into a fully built car, right off the bat.

Most people start somewhere. Sure, some of them started at the local NAPA buying crap, but they start somewhere. Generalizing all that by what car you drive is pretty ridiculous. I have seen just as many distasteful Nissans as Hondas.

In fact, if you look at some of your first posts, you were looking for shiftknobs, asking about removing your speed limiter, and seemed more worried about beating your buddies car.

Is removing my speed limiter going to win me a car show? Is striving to want to beat my buddies car (G35), which is a much better platform and starting point, wrong? U made my case for me. In my first posts I was looking to go faster, u just said it.

And the shift knob was more a need of getting a functional one. The leather covering around the shift knob was tearing, I assume as most 15 year old 240's do, and so I removed the leather covering to get it out of the way but once I did that the shift knob was very slippery and I would misshift and grind my 2nd gear cuz it kept slipping on me. Through use its not as slippery anymore, or I just got used to it.

U know what, just lock the thread or delete it. I said in my first sentence of this thread that I was bored and I guess all it got me was an upset mod who was digging through some 500+ posts to catch me talk about getting a shift knob once. late.

No, not upset at all. I was merely pointing out that everyone starts off somewhere. For you to say it is all drivers of Honda's is pretty ignorant.

Removing a speed limiter on a stock car that has 10+ years of wear and tear without starting with the basics first, is well, acting like a little kid who plays too much need for speed.

Everyone has a different ideas for their cars.

I started off modifing a Honda Civic. My idea for the car was fast with nice looks. When I bought my 240SX I have the same idea. Even I was curious about removing the speed limiter on my 240SX right when I got it.

Everyone buys their 240SX for a different reason, some to put an S15 front on it, because it's what they want to do. Some buy it to strap on a turbo to a KA motor.

How ever I don't think any of us would be doing any of this if we didn't have passion for speed, and our cars. No matter what car it is.

Some Civic clubs focus on modifcation for speed, you can't make an assumption just because you read a few posts in one forum.

I did say for the most part because, for the most part, just about everyone started off with visual or audio upgrades. And let me just say that for the record there were guys in there that did performance mods and a few guys that had nice first mods.
