Re: new goodies for my passport (56k beware)

Get a 3.5" hole saw, cut the center out of the stock center wheel covers to fit over the hubs. I think it looks better with them on. Offers a little bit of protection but they are pretty thin aluminum.

I got some radio shack switches for my bumper fogs and hellas and mounted them in the front of the center console. I think they look pretty good there (have 3 switches now for my new set of hellas).

Re: new goodies for my passport (56k beware)

yeah I may mount the switch on the front but I'm leaning towards using one of the many blanks around my gauges but I'm not sure. I'm seriously considering building custom front and rear bumpers out of box steel. Both of mine are messed up.

Re: new goodies for my passport (56k beware)

Sweet fog lights, hehehehe

Have the exact same set for 3 different trucks! Great set of lights, they all came with 3 sets of different lenses, yellow fog, clear fog, and driving lenses.

On the Rodeo and Toyota both, I didn't care to mess with the blanks near the gauges, on both trucks I mounted the switch on the lower edge of the dash near the drivers door. Works great actually, because that switch lets off a powerful green flourescent light when they're on, and it does attract your attention while driving - it's pretty bright. So mount it where it won't be in your eyes all the time, both trucks have that switch mounted exactly where the steering wheel blocks the light while you're driving.

I can take a pic of the switch mounted in the Rodeo if you like, let me know.

Personally, if that truck's running right and paid for, you'd be a fool to let it go. Finding a 96-97 model year in excellent shape is extremely difficult, besides you're taking fantastic care of that truck....looks nice!

Love the tires.!

Re: new goodies for my passport (56k beware)

yeah I thought these lights looked pretty beast hehe I got them cause I drive a lot late at night and the deer are terrible so I wanted my lights to be MUCH brighter. I only got this set of lenses though....

(your duck reminds me of my truck cause I keep a bat on my dash over in the corner.)

I probably won't sell it though as I stole it ($1700) back when it had 147000k

would you mind posting pictures of where you mounted the switch? and also mayeb some underhood shots of the wiring? My concern is I have a sub running from the power already I'm worried this battery I have will quit here soon with the lights and the stereo. but we shall see.

I wish my paint looked as nice as yours....maybe I'll get my hood painted It's really dinged up bad from a tree branch, girlfriend and this one incident with a skateboard...

Re: new goodies for my passport (56k beware)

It's funny, that little duck's been riding on that dash for over 7yrs now. When we first moved back to Denver from Vegas, my youngest nephew was 14mnths old and into collecting these little stuffed animals Walmart sold at the time for $2-5 a piece, depending on the animal.

Every week I'd get him a new one, he decided that little duck belonged in the windshield - been there ever since, has only come down from the windshield to Armor-all the dash, then goes back up.

My nephew is 8yrs old now, and still gets a kick over that duck....truck has a name too...Yellowduck!

Can I get back to you on those pics...maybe Tuesday when we're off??

Check with JC Whitney, you may be able to order additional lenses for those fog lights....in all honesty, the yellow fog lenses are a DRASTIC improvement over even the regular headlights with silverstars. I can actually SEE at night now, even on clear nights, I use my fog lights cause they really light up the road.

The regular headlights on these trucks suck grapes to say the least!

Re: new goodies for my passport (56k beware)

yeah when I use just my lights in the rain I can't see anything. Sure whenever you can get the pictures up is fine with me.

I need to either build a new front bumper or something cause I want an ARB styled on but their sales rep told me it was un available for my year but that it works on the 92's which doesnt make sense cause the general style is the same minus the interior I thought.

I also want a roof rack for my surfboard....
I need more money lol.

Re: new goodies for my passport (56k beware)

Front ends of the 91-95's are different enough that it won't work.

I had a '91 Rodeo, it's front end was short and stubbier then my '97 - it's a very noticeable difference when they sit side by side.

Thats why I bought yellow bulbs to put in my new hella clear fog lights that are going on my brush guard. Makes a huge difference over white light in rain, snow, and fog. My hella driving lights are getting moved to the surco roof basket, they are way too bright to use on road. I'm gonna need a bigger alternator soon with 4 sets of aftermarket lights lol.

Re: new goodies for my passport (56k beware)

Hence the ONLY reason I've kept my brushguard on my truck. Honestly, I don't feel that these brushguard's protect the front end the way an ARB bumper would.....BUT, I couldn't find alternatives for mounting the lights either.

Check with local junkyards to see if perhaps an Isuzu/Honda passport is on site with a brushguard, and/or order a Manik guard....the one I have. Look at JC Whitney or autopartswarehouse.com, should come across a fairly decent priced one.

Ran into the same situation with my Dodge diesel, the square fog lights couldn't be decently mounted onto it's bumper either....ended up buying a bull-bar....will be installing it in the next few days, then the lights.

I will get those pics tomorrow...it's the Rodeo's clean-up day, it's looking REALLY nasty outside and inside.

Re: new goodies for my passport (56k beware)

I'm thinking about building a bull bar kind of thing that mounts where the brushguard would and comes up to the license plate mount. So that it utilizes that as a second mount so it is strong and wont bend under an impact (if there is one)and it would be a good mounting place for the lights. Then I can simply move the license plate down with a short extension from the bar and I would have my lights so pretty much a brushguard that only comes up to the bumper and stops. Think it'd look good? And where can I buy tube at lol? And I'm looking foward to those pictures.

Can I get power all from the battery casue I dont want to cut into my harness to get power...?

And tomorrow is mine's clean up day I hope.... today I wheeled it in some tight woods trying to pull an atv out that was stuck really bad and I got stuck trying to get to it in a marsh. I dug out with my 4 low no such luck for the atv we had to winch it.

for the record I got it stuck not her lol It was totally bottomed out

Bet that was fun in 60-80 mph winds. I planned on hooking up my other hellas saturday but the wind got really old really fast. After the 4th time chasing my hat I gave up. I did run my rodeo through the useless touch free wash to get the goose crap off of it.
