P0756 02 Sonoma 4.3L 4X4

Changed tranny fluid and filter then went on test drive. 1st gear was like it was slipping (rpms up but slow moving). Then it would "catch" and everything shifted and ran fine. SES light came on w/ code P0756 shift solenoid B. I understand this is 2-3 shift solenoid but why am I having trouble in 1st gear?

Anyway I thought I might have knocked something loose while dropping or installing the pan since it is a tight fit. I now have the pan dropped again and the only thing I see loose is a solenoid or something electrical on the passenger side on the back of the valve body (towards the rear of the vehicle). There are two of these side by side. Is the one on driver's side shift solenoid a while the loose one is solenoid b? The electrical connector is not loose but the whole thing wobbles. Do I need to replace? Thanks in advance.

Not there to see it, but wobbles, no good, get that issue straightened out, probably the source of your problem.

Re: P0756 02 Sonoma 4.3L 4X4

I'm going to replace both. Found a brand new set on ebay cheaper than I could buy one solenoid at the local parts houses.

I need to find a way to get the cross member out of the way so I can put the pan on without damaging the solenoids again.

Another quick question what size jack would be used for regular maintenance? 2ton 3 ton?

Always stay on the high side, 3 ton.

Any ideas on how to move the cross member out of the way? I have some ideas but I would like to hear from someone who has done it.

Well I replaced both solenoids moved the cross member out of the way and spent most of the day on my back in the gravel...but she is fixed. If you have the side steps, you will have to remove the one on passenger side to get at the bolts that hold the cross member on.

Don't know how much a shop charges, but if it is less than 50 bucks they can change it next time!!
