I don't get a chance to build many projects a year, with work, home, the gym and other distractions. However, this year I was able to finish three projects.
The following project was started in early 2001 after seeing the first Motorcycle Mania show. Again, I apologize for not having WIP photos.
I'll try to list all that I did:
Starting with the frame, it was 100% scratch built using a product that Auto Wold sold many years back when they were still in business, called Plasit-Rod. The swing arm was made from styrene. The fenders were also made from styrene, using a carved buck and and vacuum-forming. The gas tank was taken from a 1/18 toy. The tank was widened, strectched and re-worked. The seat was made from putty. The triple-trees were taken from a diecast toy. One upper-portion of the trees were taken and then cast in resin to replicate for the lower and then holes for the handle bar on the top were made and the bracket for the head light on the bottom was added. The primary plate was scratch built and then the triple trees and the primary plate were then chrome plated using Little Motor Kar Company.
The following items were machined from billet- the front forks; the jugs, heads and valve covers for the engine; the magneto cover, push-rod tubes, and lifter housings for the engine; the hand grips, foot grips, and clutch and brake controls; the outer portion, the hubs for the wheels, the belt drive, the primary pulleys, the air bag and the nitrous tanks; the velocity stacks for the carbuerator and the starter motor and starter solenoid; the head light, brake calipers and the license plate holder.
The handle bars and foot controls were made from brass, polished and chrome-plated.
The paint was HOK Lapis Blue and if you look closely, you will see ghost flames. The flames were made from 1/64 scale mask, typically for hot wheels (from KB Kustoms).
