Radiator cap

I know this sounds stupid, but how do I remove the radiator cap on a 96 Lumina? I pressed down and turned left and it did unscrew, but there are metal lips that are folded over and I have no idea what to do now.

Re: Radiator cap

Car isn't running hot, however there is a slight gasket leak and some coolant finds its way into the cylinders as well as oil finding its way into the coolant. It isn't that bad right now, but I needed to do a coolant flush on the car (the low coolant light was on because of how contaminated the coolant was. The levels were fine). The oil looks fine as of now so I'm not in a very big rush to get the gasket done yet.
