Green/Red Antifreeze
I think I might've accidently mixed green & red coolant in my '92 Corolla. I had just bought this used Corolla and the coolant was a little low and it looked redish, so I thought it was just rusty so I added some green coolant. Now I think the previous owner had Dexcool in there. Should I get my coolant flushed right away or is it ok to leave for awhile? Any suggestions would be a appreciated. thanks

Re: Green/Red Antifreeze
You'll be OK. The two products are not necessarily compatible but the small about to bring the coolant reservoir up to the full mark should not hurt. At a convenient time I would flush the system and use Toyota brand "red" antifreeze. Its only available from a Toyota dealer in either 50/50 mix or 100% concentrate.
Changing coolant will extend the life of your cooling system and is cheep insurance against more costly repairs. |
