Stupid Cavalier

I have a 1996 Cavalier Z-24 and Friday night my cat and restinator was glowing red so I took it the cat went bad. Ok so I had the cat changed and now the car lopes real mad and sounds like a pissed off go kart. I checked the ICM and the ignition along with the egr value changed the O2 sensor and I let it run even though it was still running rough and the new cat got red again so I said maybe the resinator is stopped up but no the damn thing is still running bad any suggestions would be appericated.

Re: Stupid Cavalier

what motor is in the z-24....is late and i can;t remember to save my life. leaky injector/no spark to one or more cylinders. sounds as if alot of fuel is getting into cat and burning, hence the glowing red. is CEL on/flashing as all?

The motor is a 2.4L Quad 4. I checked the no. 1&2 spark plugs and the spark wasn't as strong as the no. 3&4 spark. Do you think that is the problem maybe not the spark plugs but a coil pack or something.

Re: Stupid Cavalier

pull the wires off 1&2 and look at the terminals on the coil pack, if corroded, then replace as that will inhibit spark. plugs been changed recently, and wires?
