Renaissance Impreza WRC 06 Transkit

Hi all, Merry Christmas, I don't post on here much but I havn't noticed any recent threads pop up about the new Ren transkit to build the 06 Impreza WRC.

http://www.mediamixhobby.com.sg/cata...oducts_id=5338

Has anyone got one or seen it up close? I've ordered one but I havn't had experience with a complete body transkit from renaisance before so not sure on quality etc, guess I'll find out soon enough.

Do you think there's any likelyhood that Tamiya will release a new Impreza kit?

Re: Renaissance Impreza WRC 06 Transkit

If you mean the '08 Impreza when you refer to 'new' - with any luck they will. Recent history has shown they most likely won't though unless it's sucessful enough in the WRC to warrant significant interest in Japan.
The '06 Impreza WRC has been an outright failure for Subaru, which is likely why both Hasegawa and Tamiya have ignored it - an outright lack of interest in their home market.

As for the Renaissance transkit - it 'looks' promising, but all the Renaissance transkits I have are really a waste of good resin so I won't be getting this one. On the other hand, I believe Gio has one on order, so if he has received it perhaps he could share his thoughts with us?

Re: Renaissance Impreza WRC 06 Transkit

I've got one already (tarmac version). There's a thread on a French forum which shows how it was actually made (see here). Never mind the language, just look at the pictures. Here you'll also see it's actually a Tamiya body with a Fujimi front, which was then copied into a transkit.

The quality seems to be very good (no comparison as it's my first big TK). It contains a small bag of resin parts, Photo-etch, decals and "glass" for the lights. I did a small check to see if the body would fit nicely onto the donor chassis and found no problems there. The above mentioned thread also shows which changes to the roll-cage should be made (somewhere around page 42-43).

Re: Renaissance Impreza WRC 06 Transkit

Since the Fujimi kit is slightly smaller than the Tamiya kit, I am sure some of the proportion is off.

Tim, the link doesn't work.

Ray, the link does work. You have to be registered with the M'Automobile forum to view the thread. And I tried to merge the Fujimi body with the Tamiya '05 kit and the body details weren't too far apart. .

Colorado have also released some 2006 rally plates for a unique build (available through Mediamix)...

I don't know if you live in the U.S., budstock, but stradasports have the transkit for less $119 vs. $149

Re: Renaissance Impreza WRC 06 Transkit

I live down in New Zealand. Nevermind I have already got one on order from mediamix plus one of those new 06 decal plates sheets.

I'm also having trouble with that French Forum, I've registered but it says the link is out of date or broken, and I cant seem to find anything in the forum. That thread sounds interesting.

Bud.

Re: Renaissance Impreza WRC 06 Transkit

Pawlie, I've had one pre-ordered with Kevin at Strada since November. Just waiting for it to arrive now

budstock,. the link is still good. But if you have registered and have access to the forum, the 5th main menu option is "VOITURES". Under that is a submenu with "Bla-Bla", "Nouveautes" etc. You need to be looking at "Work in Progress". The Scooby is by a builder called DiD, the thread is still on the top list of threads in the WIP subforum.

jla, my French is that bad, I had to register with the aid of Google translations But as far as I can see, there shouldn't be any problems with registering with a Yahoo or AOL e-mail.
