odometer not lighting up

I have seen a few other posts about this problem but there does not seem to be an answer. Anyways my situation is a bit different. My odometer light went out (the odometer still works it just does not light up) after install an after market radio. What could cause this. There are several wires left over after the install that the new radio does not use. Could these wires be the problem? Can anyone give me the wiring diagram for a stock radio for a 2002 chevy cavalier sedan as well as the wiring diagram for the instrument panel.

The dash contains led lighting that is not replaceable you need to purchase a new or good used gage cluster.
$50-$100 used or $300 new.
