Some advice for a would-be buyer

I am interested in buying a used M3, but am unsure if I should go with a 1995 or a 1996 model. The 1995 model is the last model to use the OBDI, while the 1996 model used the OBDII. I am interested in modding it, so this is why the OBD version concerns me.

Also, some of the cars I am looking at have almost 100k miles on them. What is the given life of the engine, and how reliable are they? BMW parts are expensive, but I have heard that they are reliable, excpet for a few cases. What are your guys' experiences in maintenance and performance?

As for the modding, do you guys have any companies you can recommend to me for chipping? I heard Dinan was pretty good, but I'm just looking for different opinions.

Thanks for any help =)

Hey man, you need to check us on Bimmerforums. We have all the answers!

OBDI is the course for you, if the age of the vehicle does not cause concern.

Some companies for software mods are Dinan, Active Autowerke, Turner Motosports.
