I have spoken to a few guys that have them but never talked about a club, but i guess they would be keen.
There's a few really good looking P10-11's around this town....just a matter of tracking some of them down and talking to them.

Ok..there are a lot of things that we need to consider...
and one very first one I wanna ask you guys... Is it as long that they have a Primera P10/P11 we will accept them? or does it have to be suped up...well at least something in it is not standard?

I think you should open it up to anyone with a P10-11.
Most people that join these sorts of clubs will want to do something to there car and this is a good way to get involved and ask questions to other who have the "suped" up ones !!...lol Its a good start for them.

If the intention is to create some sort of elitist image then I suppose modded only cars are the way to go. But, if you rule people out based on something not being standard, then where do you draw the line?? tyres? mags? coffe-can tailpipe? K&N?, spoiler?, lightbulbs?, power output? ... see what I'm getting at? Personally, I envision a Primera club as a support network for people [i]interested[i] in Primeras. Primary purpose would be the availability of information about these cars. The ultimate would be organisation of events (dyno days, track days etc.) and bulk buys, special deals sponsorship etc . My mates Rover club even organises evenings visiting various automotive specialists like suspension, transmission and performance shops. I wouldn't even rule out people who don't own one since there is no good reason they couldn't contribute just as much knowledge/skills as anyone else. Say someone has owned a Primera in the past but sold it and that person has a wealth of knowledge to share - should they be excluded to the detriment of everybody? I don't think so. What d'ya reckon guys?

You have to be carefull of the people that dont have Primera's as you can end up with alot of "want-a-be's" in a club. When i was in a hotrod club here, this is what happened. All these people wanted to do was take the piss out of everyone's ride, but had nothing to show for them selfs. Far enough if they have had one and have good info to pass on...more then welcome.

How about people that "wannabe" a Primera owner and wish to join so they can get clued up before they buy? Or people willing to do the less fun stuff like organising newsletters, mailouts, events, paperwork etc. These things don't just magically get done by themselves by virtue of owning a Primera. How about having different types of membership e.g. owner - enthusiast - supporter etc? Also, if the club eventually becomes something that requires a financial membership, the costs can be spread over more members. It'd be much easier to get good price deals, group buys, sponsorship and recognition if you have a large membership. I think if someone has a genuine interest in Primeras then the more the merrier. Peer pressure will convince them to see the light and buy one anyway, and with the club's help, they won't get ripped off. If some non-owner is just gonna take the piss all the time then I'm sure most people have very interesting and entertaining ways of dealing with that. What did the members of your hotrod club do about it? Exclude genuinely interested people looking to build their first 'rod just so as to keep a few a**holes out? I can remember when the local hotrod club here didn't want all those "wankers with 6 cylinder cars" to join. Probably didn't like gettin' their asses kicked all the time by GTR Toranas and E39 Chargers. Anyway, I think this membership discussion is probably all a bit premature considering where we're at right now. Probably best to get the thing off the ground in the first place rather than deal with problems that haven't even happened yet. Don't want to scare people off, eh. Alright, maybe it was more like 6c worth. Ok, Ok, 15c worth.

I'm in Hamilton, I've never had experience with something like this yet but I'll help any way I can. I'm willing to travel to Auckland occassionally if need be.
I'd really like to hear some more people's views on what they think a Primera club should look like and what they do etc. Coz that's the first question I'm gonna get asked when I approach people to see if they are interested. They're going to say "I might be interested, tell me more about it" In the meantime, we should probably talk to some people from other car clubs and find out what's involved, what works and doesn't work, what their members get out of it and what they have to put into it. My wish list of benefits from being a member is like this: Information - technical, performance, suppliers, maintenance Deals - club discounts, group buys, sponsorship Events - shows, geekouts (like those P10DET organises), track days etc. When I say sponsorship, what I mean is, say we need to produce a publication or run a website or something, the costs can be offset by selling advertising to businesses who wish to target Primera owners such as parts suppliers, dealers etc. If you can show them a good sized list of members (their potential customers) they may either choose to sponsor some of the running costs or offer discounts or whatever. Perhaps they may supply information that the general public doesn't have access to. Or they might be willing to give a presentation or write an article on performance upgrades or whatever their speciality is. Take subz for example, as a dealer who is beginning a racing team, an association with the Primera club could generate car and parts sales from the dealership as well as business in the service department. And since his race team would have a high profile in the Primera community, he could use that as leverage to secure sponsorship for his race operation. Another example is Peter Van Brugel's business. As a specialist in Nissan performance it would make good business sense to get involved with a large group of Primera owners. If he does more business this way maybe the cost of importing or manufacturing performance stuff gets cheaper because of economy of scale. If this is the track people want to go down, then perhaps Nissan NZ might be interested in getting involved. With the huge numbers of Primeras in NZ it is a definite possibility. They might like to host the website or something just to get the traffic through their own homepages. Another spinoff, anyone who does bad business with a member subjects themselves to the power of the grapevine. You can see the potential in this but it all hinges on a decent membership. Anyway, I feel like I'm dominating this whole discussion so please everybody post your ideas, thoughts and expectations. Could be that the majority just wants to be able to chinwag with other Primera people about Primeras for all I know, so have a think about it and post your thoughts people - it's wide open.

PrimeraClub
A club would be a good idea theres like millions of Primeras in Auckland, I live on the
shore myself in Browns Bay. If you do decide to do something please let me know, I'm sure if the club was big enough I know a few people who may provide discounts to members. If you have a look at the Skylines Downunder membership forms you may get a few ideas on the rules you may need for a club..
