Yeh but just dont' go too light! If you get b16 get a type r flywheel. It helps rev faster and spins a bit faster than stock b16. If you get too light u'll lose torque and dont bother goin up the hill

light weight flywheels rev quicker, but yeah to light and you ll loose torque...some rotational mass is good...

with a really light one it also tends to be weaker... and then when you shift the revs drop much much faster so if you can't shift fast enough you'll drop out of the powerband and then have to compensate for that... but there will also be less paracitic loss for the flywheel... i have a 12lb. flywheel on my car and love it... great mod it was

Someone asked this last week and heres what I had to say:
Lightweight flywheels arent made that way to save overall weight on your car. It all has to do with rotational mass... When they weigh less, they will spin up faster and give you better acceleration (not drastically but sufficiently). But, there is such thing as a too light-weight flywheel. If they are too lightweight, the engine will lose inertia (in between shifts when the clutch is engaged, the RPM's will drop a lot quicker which is no good) Anyways, stock ones weigh 15-18lbs. If you plan on getting one, dont go under 11 lbs or you will lose that precious inertia. |
