GTP vs. Stang...

Coming home today looking at a side job I get lined up with a real nice sounding Mustang 94-98ish.. The guy driving was in his 40's I'd guess and the way he lightly revved his engine at the light was good enough for me to get ready for whatever...

The light finally turned green and we take off. We both were not into real hard at first but by time I hit about 20 I was wide open. I looked over and he is right beside me and slightly pulling and then he changes gears and I gain 1/2 length. The guys shift was perfect and he got right beside me again.... Me being up by a fender at most. I watch him throw it into 3rd and he lost 1/2 car again but this time I was pulling a little more and he let off seeing as though it wasnt going to be no easy victory. I dont even think I had changed into second yet because we let off right at about 90.

I get over rather quickly so I could turn onto the interstate and I honked at the guy and gave him a head nod and about the time I was turning on to the ramp I look and see a foxbody GT flying up on the other Mustang... I would have like to see thre outcome of that race that probably followed shortly after...

I get on ther interstate and within a few minutes there a GTP right on my ass. I give it some gas and we play for a few minutes...The GTP was 97-03 Silver Coupe. He had tinted headlights and tails and had SLP exhaust tips. His car was debadged and clean....

Re: GTP vs. Stang...

Nice race. I would suspect he had a few bolt-ons if he was keeping up like that with you since you have ran a 14.2 and hi car stock is a low 15 second car.

I have a ZZP MPS with a 3.5 and 3.4 pulley. Stock size is 3.8. I will be installing first thing when it starts getting warm. I should be easily into 13's with either pulleys. I will be shooting for mid 13's this year and hopefully trapping in the 102ish range...

^^^ agreed.. I believe he had a little more than the sweet exhaust I heard... Slow or not dont all Mustangs sound sick when they have exhaust put on? I think they do... I was going to be putting distance on him as soon as he hit 3rd gear. I kinda wish he would of stayed in it so that I could see how well my car would have done... I have had my fair share of ass whooping by Mustangs so when I actually win one I feel pretty good about my 4-door grocery getter...

The last gen before the new ones were, but those mid ninties 'Stangs were dogs. I raced a GT in my BMW and put about half a length on it, and back when I had the Rav4, I raced one of the mid ninties V6s and pulled on it, lol.

That is probably not even that far from the truth lol. I messed around with one when I was driving a 2.2L Cavalier and the Cavy actually didn't have that much of a problem with it. Not to mention the Cavalier had a bagillion miles on it. True Story

Re: GTP vs. Stang...

the 94-98 GT's werent much to write home about. My STOCK 93 Thunderbird SC kept up dead even with my buddies 95 GT (94-95's were a tad quicker then the 96-98. 5.0 > 4.6) Good kill none the less. Always had a soft spot for the S/C'd GM's (Buick Regal GS.... still want one...)
