Got my radiator and I have problems

Well I get my new radiator and its for an automatic car so the goddamn fans dont mount the same...that pissed me off in the first place. Then after I get the fan in I see that my small fan is sitting directly on the header. So I rip the smaller fan out and just use the big one. Then I get to thinking about if I need that fan. I read somewhere that its the A/C fan but That doesnt seem right. So do I need the smaller fan or will the bigger one be okay by itself?

After I drive the car far enough to get it warmed up I notice that I am smelling gas BAD. So I open the hood and the fuel filter(right?) has two bolts in it and the one that holds the line that goes to the intake has gas running off of it. I thought well maybe I didnt get it to seal right when I put the bolt back in. So I take it off clean the seal surfaces off and put it back on get in drive around same thing.
I think its the filter being bad (if it is the filter on my old car the filter was in the back) What do you all think?

Other than that it was great to drive the car for the first time since I put the new engine in....I cant really drive on wet pavement because if I'm not careful I spin the tires all to hell when I take off...
