abs light on
my abs warning light keeps on coming on but when the igniton is turned off it resets itself, wot would be causing this either a crap connection on the abs sensor or possibly damp in the sensor, the brakes still work spot on,i just cant afford to take it to a main dealer at the mo.

My ABS light comes on when I turn my healights on or just my driving lights. I guess it's just some wiring problems.

I've only had the ABS light come one once, but like you said, it reset once I shut it down and restarted. I'm guessing it had to do with water in the circuitry b/c I had been doing reverse donuts and J-turns in about 9" of snow just before the light came on, and I haven't seen it since. How often do you have this problem??? If it isn't very often, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you're really perplexed about it, I'd run the self-diagnostic code on the ECM and see if it brings up any errors in any of the systems of your G. Hope this helps.

ABS light diagnosis
I've had "ABS light on" issues for about a year myself! I had my G20 at the dealer to check about the Air Bag light and they told me the ABS light was coming on because of a bad sensor (LF) and that I shouldn't worry about it "until it stays on all the time." The NEXT time I had my car in for something (ABS relay, I think), they said it was the RF sensor. Once in a while the light won't come on, but most of the time it comes on about two seconds after I start moving forward. My brakes still work "fine," but I guess my ABS is disabled most of the time because of the bad sensor(s).
Out of curiousity (should I ever try to work on this), anyone know what this sensor looks like? Or where it is? My dad said it wouldn't be at the wheel, but I thought it was at the wheel so it could "sense" if it's locking up...? |
