I understand what you are saying, it's not so much the word as what is connotation is that gets people in an uproar. Im willing to bet that had the prior mentioned words been used in a different context upon their creation, they would be just as acceptable as the other words in english vocabulary. You are very right, they are nothing but words, it is what they represent that make them 'dirty'.

tru............but then again it doesnt really depend on wat you say it really depends on what the person whos recievin it takes it...............for example if you call a small little skinny guy a "Nigger" and you yourself arent one................then im pretty sure that they wouldnt care too much.................but then again if you call a monster of a guy thats like 800 pounds and like 7 feet tall then im pretty sure that your fucked..........

I'm a "small skinny guy" 6', 149lb. and I will kick your ass if you call me one! If I can't do it with my bare hands, I will resort to something else but I guarantee you will think twice about doing it again! To get back on topic, Yogs is correct! Words can mean the difference between life and death depending on the circumstance.:bandit:

why is it that the word nigger is so taboo to say in front of an african american, but when i get called a cracker it doesnt really matter? im sick of hearing the whole nigger thing here and there. if it was so derogatory to the african american culture 200 years ago, then why does the black community say it so often, and produce songs about it. i think any black person who says it is a hipacrit.

Im a bit lost at the moment, when exactly did the thread turn from swear words to racial slurs? yes, a racial slur can in fact mean possible harm to someone who may utter it, but thats not what the thread is about, its about SWEAR words, such as Fu*k, and Sh*t. These words have no more depth than the letters that form them, they are nothing but slang words to describe other words, as I said before, it is not the word that is offensive, it is the connotation of the word.

I think that the word "Nigger" is a deragotary statement towards blacks, (I think this cause im hispanic, but i do have black cousins and this is whatt they tell me) But the word Nigga is somehow different, dont ask me how, this is what my cousins tell me, they say that the word Nigga is like saying Homeboy, or Dude. I tell my cousins "Sup, my Nigga" But never "Nigger". They dont mind and most my friends dont either.

Also somewhat relates to the African country Nigeria, which is primarily black. Many variations exist, including "Nig", "Nigel", "Niggy", "Niggly", etc.

Hi! It will always be used no matter how much it's hated by some. Today's youth embrace it as a term of generalization and endearment; A Tribe Called Quest even had a song explaining the use of it as a term of endearment. The use of it is kinda like when you mess with your sister or brother but how dare somebody else mess with your sister or brother! I personally have gotten sick of hearing it and I try to make it clear when in conversation with those who choose to use it. As far as the size thing, I would try to use my brain before I would try anything incredibly stupid but fear is not a factor; I have 2 children to raise in this f****d up world and I don't have time to be scared because if anything's gonna happen then it'll happen.:grey:

I totally agree! I don't like hearing any racial slur at all and I don't think the double standard thing is cool either.

To call a black man a "nigger", in my opinion is demoralizing and socially wrong, if he wants to call himself this, that is his business, but for someone else to do it, I believe that it is not their place. Granted there are many black men who have friends who are also black who call each other "nigga" as a greeting of sorts or as a way to acknowledge that particular person, but they have a relationship with one another and are fine with it between them, not some joe blow off the street. I believe that for a white man to call a black man a "nigger" is not only ignorant, but very much merits the guy having his ass kicked, that is basically stating that the black man is inferior, which is not true, and has never been true. Anyways, Im getting into this a bit too much.
