my engine is retarded

i just recently got my car out of the shop after having the head worked on and not even a weel later my car is back in the shop. this time it ran just fine until i made a right hand turn and my engine damn near stalled. then it proceeded to spit and spudder until i found a place to pull over. The engine runs fine while in neutral except for every few seconds it acts like it is revving down to stall, then it picks right back up and runs clean for a few more seconds. However the instant i put it in gear and let off the clutch it runs like crap, almost like a dead cylinder. Wouldn't it runs like shit constantly even in idle id this was the problem? I have been thinking it is either the fuel pump cutting out under pressure or bad firing ignition parts. any info would be nice thanks

my guess would be the ignition system. make sure the coil, dizzy, and rotor are all working properly. do a compression check to make sure there arent any problems with that. after the ignition system is checked, move on to fuel since replacing those parts are a bit more complicated.
