Engine Swap

Im looking to buy a 92-95 civic (hatchback preferrably), but not a huge deal if not. What would be the average price on say a 95 with under 100k miles? I was also planning to swap the engine and put in a b16. Would this be a hard project, would I be able to do it on my own or with a friend, how much would it cost and does anybody have a website where I can look at a B16 engine? Well thats about it for now.

You cannot really put a average price on a car that is in demand like that. The "average" list price on autotrader.com shows $7963 But I would never pay that much for a civic. If you look around, you will be able to find good deals.

I would not recommend trying a swap as your first project on a car. How much do you, or a friend know about working on cars? I did my first swap, after helping out with roughly 5 other swaps. Once you do a few, they are all pretty easy.

To have a sucessful swap, look at about $2000-$2500 if you take it somewhere. If you do decide to do it yourself, it will be much cheaper.

Here is a good site to get started on, for prices and swap info.

if you're planning on swapping the engine then go for low price high mileage cause the engines goin bye bye anyway. A few other things might need to get replaced but do it all in the name of performance and you'll be set.

If you plan on swapping the engine anyway, why not just get a cheap one with higher mileage. Also, if you plan on redoing the interior (or pulling it out for straight race), then you could find one cheaper with a torn up interior (same with body, pulling dents isn't all that hard.) And if you really want a fast car, why not just go ahead and drop a B18 in the car?
