Can a 94 impreza two wheel drive be transformed into a four wheel drive beast? Is this a direct bolt up or will the rear frame need have the supports welded on? Any info or direction to the answer will be greatly appreciated.:alien:

In a few short words - NO, NO and NO! Sell what you have, buy a WRX. Simple as that.

it can be done. it is mostly a bolt on, but its a lot of stuff to bolt on. you'll need a trans, pedal assemlies, all 3 trans cross members, trans mount, drivershaft w/ center support bearing, gas tank, rear cross members, rear hubs, rear axles, rear diff, etc. you will basically need to find a wrecked car to do most of this conversion.
you would probably be better off looking for a good deal on an awd impreza you can afford, and selling yours. do you have a 1.8, 2.0, 2.2? the onlder body style (pre-2002) imprezas have a lot of potential. they're lighter, and the 2.2 especially can be built into some killer turbo motors. i'd love to pick up one for a project car. a nice old 93-94 awd impreza l, built 2.2 with some 2.5 heads, good sized little turbo... :licker: |
