Odometer

Hello... me and one of my friends both have preludes... although he didn't spend the time or energy fixing it up like I did... but anyway cut to the chase... his odometer only counts half the miles... and we couldn't figure out how to fix it... like if he goes 16 miles by his odometer he actually really traveled 32 or if he travels 16 miles by the road... it is really only 8 miles on his odometer.? anyone have this problem? or know of anyway to fix it.? thanks

Yes it does display the right speed.. although it may be 2 mph fast... but that shouldn't make a difference

Its probably a wore out gear or something in the gauge cluster. Its possible the odometer gears could be wore and is slipping when the speedometer is turning. Rip it apart and take a look at it. DO NOT REMOVE THE NEEDLES! I made that mistake and broke mine and had to get a new gauge cluster. take a drill and hook it up to the speedo input and turn it and look to see if any of the gears are jumping or slipping or anything else unusual. Thats all I can think of right now. Hope that helps.
