Anyone ever shipped a hood and bumper?

I need some info about shipping a hood and a bumper for a 90 CRX. I have looked at places but I cant get rates....but no one has any for some reason. Also do you actually put it in a box or just wrap it with cardboard?

I have shipped a bumper. I just wrapped it up with bubble wrap, and plastic wrap. Then shipped via FedEX.

the cheapest wat for me to do it was to ship it using greyhound bus. Thats how I shipped my WW front bumper to Ami, It only cost like 40 bucks i think. Just make your self a homemade ghetto cardboard box and put in it there. You need to drop it off at a local greyhound facility, the person who receives it needs to pick it up at the station.

They will ship anything. The best thing to do, is call them and explain what you are doing. Just have the dimensions, weight, etc handy before hand.

The fedex oversize truck will take a hood, though Fedex is notorious for damaging sheetmetal, So pack it well. Call ahead or go online and if you give them the dims, weight, and destination zip they will tell you exactly how much to ship. I think the heavy stuff has to go priority express and not ground though so it may cost a small fortune.

I have been shipping things for awhile now, and FedEX overall has better service, and slightly cheaper rates than UPS. That is just what I have seen however.

UPS has a cutoff at 130" total girth LxW.

Try MotorCargo if it is going west, and GI Trucking if it is going East.

If you use a trucking company try a third party who has an account with the trucking company they will get you a better rate and charge you a small fee, and you can leave the parts with them, they will insure it, and see that it gets shipped. Probably looking around 150.00

If you going to ship the hood you should probably put some kind of cross brace in there. Keep it from warping.
