used 99 or 00?
I am in the market for an suv. I went to the Caddy dealership, and they had both a 99 and 00 escalade on the lot. Both are certified, meaning they have up to 100k mile or 5 (or is it 6 years?) year warranty from date of perchase.
They were asking 29k for the 00, and 27k for the 99. The 99 has really nice caddy rims, grill and head/tail light gaurds. Do any of you know if there are any differences in the 2 in any significant way? Thanks |

Not really anything. The 99 weighs a touch more than the 00 for some reason. That is really the only difference I have seen. Both have the same 5.7L 255HP V-8. They have the same body style to. If you were to look at a 00 and a 99 model....you couldn't tell any difference.

My wife is a teacher, and she makes more than $35k a year. Depending on the district, and state, they do alright.
But, if they bought it used, they may be as inexpensive as an explorer. That is what I am trying to get my wife to understand. Plus w/their certified program, you get a 100k mile warranty. Better than a new Ford. |

I actually right now own a '96 Range 4.0, and I'm thinking about getting the '99 or '00 Escalade sometime next year (that or a '98 Landcruiser). I havent seen too many complaints about it, so it might be a good bet. What do you guys think? |

Where do teachers get bonuses? In my wife's district, all that extracurricular stuff is part of the job. Only coaching gets them more money. Any fair at the school, or tutoring is just extra time. No money. If my wife got paid for all the extra hours she put in, I could retire!

We do have to do 100 minutes extra work per week, and in some schools they do extra tutoring, but Saturday classes, summer school, you get paid for. I actually want to teach a GED program.... Where are you? So I know where NOT to go to teach if I leave NYC. |

Re: used 99 or 00?
San Diego. I took the tutoring to mean helping kids after school. My wife did teach summer school, but that was only about $2k, not enough to buy a $50k suv!
It isn't that bad here in S.D. for teachers. What is bad, is the high cost of housing. Depending on where you are in NY, you may know about that already! |
